Brendan Rodgers: “I was going to substitute Coutinho before scoring Winner”

It was very difficult and dramatic for Liverpool yesterday (09/08/15), but in the end they came home with the win against Stoke City on Sunday in Britannia Stadium.  Philippe Coutinho scored a fantastic goal on the final minutes (86'), taking the win in the same place where they have been beaten 6:1 last year in the final league match.   Brendan Rodgers, Liverpool's heads coach admitted that he  was very close of making a big mistake and substitute the player that gave him the win in the end : “I was very close to taking him off and replace him with Danny Ings,”  Said Rodgers. " We felt towards the end of the game, in the last 15 minutes, Glen Johnson had started to get a little bit of space on the left side and we’d moved Phil out from the central area onto the left. But when he scored, I had changed my mind, and I'm glad I kept him on the field". “Our supporters at this club, the minimum they want to see is effort and commitment and they’ve seen that and I think they are proud of the team.
